Support for Jude Sky Walker's recovery

Hello everyone,

We are reaching out today to humbly ask for your support and generosity for our beloved family member, Jude Sky Walker. Jude is the 17-year-old son of Corey and Karen Lopez-Walker, grandson of Karla and Jon Mitovich, Burt and Theresa Walker and Rozella Lopez. On Friday, May 12, Jude was involved in a life-altering car accident. He is still in a coma and with multiple injuries in the UNM Hospital Trauma Intensive Care Unit.

As a family, we are devastated by this tragic event and are rallying together to provide care and support to Corey, Karen and Jude’s siblings, Katrina and Johnny during this difficult time. They have been providing constant love and support for Jude, each doing 24-hour shifts at the hospital every single day since the accident.

Unfortunately, the accident has resulted in substantial medical expenses, including multiple surgeries and a long-term stay in the hospital. Jude will inevitably require long-term, extensive rehabilitation and specialized treatments as well. These unforeseen costs will place an overwhelming burden on Corey and Karen, making it incredibly challenging to provide the comprehensive care and support Jude needs right now.

We are humbly reaching out to our extended family, friends, and compassionate community members to help alleviate some of the financial strain they will be facing. Unfortunately, Corey is a freelance consultant and does not have the benefit of an employer’s support of paid time off or sick leave and Karen has retired due to her own chronic health struggles. As a family, we have created this GoFundMe campaign to provide a platform where anyone who wishes to lend a helping hand can contribute. Your generous donations will directly assist in covering the medical bills, ongoing therapies, necessary home modifications, and any additional expenses related to Jude’s recovery.

Any contribution, however small, will make a significant difference in Jude’s journey towards recovery, which we are optimistic about.
