Support for Kelli Russo and Family

Donation protected
As most of you know, Kelli is one of the most kindhearted, positive, hilarious, and strongest people on this planet. For those of you who are lucky enough to know her personally, you know that if anyone can kick cancer’s butt, it’s Kelli. And for those of you who don’t know her personally, you are missing out. Kelli is currently a sophomore at Binghamton University and is majoring in Integrative Neuroscience. She is also a sister of the Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority.

In April, Kelli and the Russo family received news that no one ever wants to hear. After dealing with severe ongoing back pain Kelli had been taken to the hospital and administered an MRI where they found a large tumor on the nerves of her spinal cord. In the following days, Kelli was diagnosed with stage 4 Ewing’s Sarcoma; a rare type of cancer that usually occurs in and around the bones. The tumor she has is called PNET, which is short for primitive neuroectodermal tumor and is highly malignant. The cancer has spread to her bones and she has lesions on her shoulder and rib.
Kelli will be undergoing aggressive chemotherapy for up to a year. She will most likely have to undergo multiple rounds of chemotherapy.  It will be an uphill battle, but with the love and support from those around her she will make it through this. She is a fighter and will come out of this even stronger than ever.

In the midst of the pandemic, COVID-19 has not been easy on many families and medical insurance only covers a small portion of the expenses and her family now faces multiple new challenges from long hospital stays to the chemotherapy and subsequent surgery to remove the tumor. Any donations will be used to help cover these medical expenses as well as groceries and other bills. The Russo family is also looking into donating money to research on the rare form of Ewing's sarcoma.

Kelli is the best friend a girl could ask for. She is simply always the life of the party, and one of the most genuine people I know. On behalf of Kelli and her family, I wanted to create this page as so many people have been asking how they can show support and help. Everyone is struggling in their own ways during this hard time, but this is one way to support Kelli and the Russo family through their journey. Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers.
