Support for Kernazi Charles

Donation protected
Dear family and friends
Kernazi Charles needs your help. Last week he was in a serious accident while driving in Sundridge. He was airlifted to St-Micheal’s hospital with devastating and life altering injuries. We are grateful he is receiving immediate and amazing care by the team of health care workers at St-Mike’s.

In the accident, the Jeep was totalled and Kernazi’s right foot was severely injured. The team of surgeons are working to save as much functionality as possible. We don’t know the extent of the required medical procedures and possible rehabilitation items to make his recovery as easy as we can. We are reaching out to you to help Kernazi and Annaka with their unanticipated and ongoing expenses during their stay away from home.

Ten years ago he met Annaka Roi Dallaire in Toronto where they began their life together. Kernazi accompanied Annaka on her frequent visits to Muskoka and to the Almaguin Highlands where she grew up. Kernazi not only fell in love with Annaka but he also developed a special connection with the north and they soon decided to make their home in South River/Sundridge where they are creating an organic farm. For his first job in the North, Kernazi was warmly welcomed as an employee at Stan Darling Insurance in Burk’s falls while Annaka worked at Northridge inn in Sundridge.

Currently, Kernazi is working with the Kidd’s Home Hardware family where he has made lasting friendships. In line with his dream of becoming a police officer, during his spare time, Kernazi began a regimen of physical training including working as a referee with the Huntsville Soccer association. He is also a dedicated volunteer for the Sundridge Firefighters association.

Any monetary support will be appreciated and will contribute to their basic living expenses while in Toronto and help with costs for travel, accommodation and out-of-pocket medical bills.

Surgery that has taken place and updates:
Friday September 13th: Kernazi had his first surgery to determine the extent of damage. Several toes were severed irreversibly in the accident. A second surgery is scheduled for Tuesday September 17th to determine if his foot can be re-constructed.

Tuesday September 17th: Kernazi was back from surgery at 4:20am. He's in a lot of pain because they put a screw in his heel to hold his bones together. They also took his skin and stretched it over his wound at the front of his foot. The surgery team was able to save 50% of his foot.

September 18: Physiotherapists got him up today and he was able to walk with a walker and one foot about 5 feet and back, which is amazing!
