At the age of 24, Kim never imagined she would soon be facing the hardest battle of her life.
The week before Easter, Kim woke up with a headache, sore neck and discovered a lump. She decided to go to the chiropractor thinking it could be easily resolved. It was the advice of her chiropractor that she took herself to her local GP. Kim was sent for further testing including a PET scan, CT scan, Biopsy and her worst nightmare was discovered. Kim was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system.
Since the diagnosis, Kim has had to go through numerous appointments and tests prior to starting her chemotherapy treatment. One of the procedures Kim will undergo is a chemo port placement. This port is placed right beneath your collar bone and contains a catheter that is attached to your jugular vein to allow easy access for intravenous medications.
Over the next week or two, Kim will start her chemo treatment which will consist of 8 cycles. She has a long journey ahead, but we know the love and support from all of you will help guide her to recovery.
The proceeds from this page will go directly towards all of Kim’s medical bills, as they are starting to become very expensive and this is only the beginning.
