Support for Kimberly Elementary School Teachers

The power and importance of community building has never been as evident as it is right now. As such, we are excited to announce that Rubicon’s African American Affinity Group is “adopting” L.O. Kimberly Elementary School in Southwest Atlanta, Georgia! Through our adoption program, we aim to form a connection with and provide direct assistance to Kimberly Elementary School’s students, families, and staff over the course of 2021.
Teachers around the country work tirelessly to educate, support, and care for our kids. While this pandemic has been difficult for everyone, it has been especially tough for our teachers. In addition to managing their families and taking care of themselves, teachers have had to constantly adapt to meet the demands of educating our children in new learning environments often, with limited resources—especially in our public schools. As students face new mental, physical, and psychological challenges, our educators are spending even more time and effort to ensure each child receives the education and resources they need to succeed.
This couldn’t be more true for the teachers at Kimberly Elementary School in Southwest Atlanta. Kimberly Elementary serves 406 students in grades PK-5, 79% of whom are socioeconomically disadvantaged. The school has a dynamic leader and dedicated teachers who want to change the odds for their students and go above and beyond to make this happen. One example was when teachers realized that they were not going to be returning to face-to-face instruction. The teachers began making home visits and dropping off school supplies and materials to support weekly instruction, all on their own dime.
At this time, Rubicon is asking for your financial support to provide gift cards for the incredible teachers at Kimberly Elementary. These gift cards will cover essentials like gas, groceries, and school supplies for the hardworking staff members. We know a strong community is made stronger when our schools thrive. Please help Rubicon take care of our teachers, so they can take care of our kids!
