Support for Larry Szilagyi's End of Life Expenses

Update 12/30/24:
We are getting there. Funds so far have helped with unpaid medical bills (hospital deductibles; ambulance ride; and other medical costs not covered by insurance), along with other unexpected death expenses. May have to move out of this house, but hoping to stay for a few more years. Trying to raise money for Memorial Service to be held in Sacramento in late May. Note date change: Sunday, May 25th so people from out of town may attend. Thank you all for helping us to reach our goals.

Update: We are almost half way there. Anything helps: $10; $25, $50, etc. I just had to write a check for something with the County for $1,000, Still have to hire an Estate Attorney (for the trust) and another attorney to change the title to house. (There seems to be a charge for everything.). Attaching some other photos of Larry is his life.

I’m Robin Pollock, wife of Larry Szilagyi, who passed away unexpectedly on November 11, 2024. Funds will be used for unpaid medical expenses, unexpected estate attorney fees, county fees to change name on deed, etc.).

Larry was a friend to many. Everyone loved his sense of humor and zest for life. He has 3 daughters and 6 grandchildren, whom he loved and adored. We ended up moving to Southern California because he wanted to get closer to them. And he did. Grandson, Jayce, had made plans with him to rebuild an engine in their garage. It was very sad that he was not able to fulfill this dream. He also is survived by his brother, Rick, who has been very helpful through this entire process.

Larry married the love of his life, Robin, in Cambria on Thanksgiving Day in 1992. We met there, married there, and now have scattered his ashes there. (Done Thanksgiving Day, 2024, 32nd anniversary.)

Larry had many passions. Of course, he adored his Corvette, Lady Blue. As a younger man, he sold forklifts and water skied. He loved fixing things and was very handy around the house. He learned to work on cars at an early age, rebuilding the engine of one at 15. Bought his first car at age 14 (there’s a great story there). He also loved bike riding, before Lady Blue took over his life. He spent more time in the garage than in the house. We often joked about putting a bed out there. That and a coffee pot and he was all set.

Larry wanted his ashes scattered in various places where he had special memories. Therefore, to honor his wishes, I am scattering his ashes in several different places:

Temecula for neighbors and friends living in SoCal.
All the neighbors used to stop by to talk to him while working on Lady Blue. He especially loved all the dog owners and remembered their dogs’ names. He loved this house and our beautiful flowers. Ashes will be scattered in our beautiful backyard.

Monday, May 26, 2025. (Memorial Day)
Sacramento River (meet at Virgin Sturgeon at 1:00 pm)
Larry had lots of good memories driving Wave Rocket up and down the river, water skiing, tubing, and racing. (Hence the name Wave Rocket). His nephew and good friend, J.B., will be scattering the ashes from his boat. Lady Blue, driven by her new owner, good friend, Ross DuClair, will be there for scattering some of the ashes up and down the Garden Highway. I’ve heard he may be granting rides.
