TLDR: Laura is a single mum of two kids, 2 years out of a DV situation, living with her mum. Bank account is overdrawn and bills piling up. She has had to disconnect her phone.
Rheumatoid arthritis and depression make everything harder. Coming up to Christmas with no improvement in sight means her mental health has taken a massive dive. Please help relieve the financial stress so she can focus on her health and family.
The long story:
Laura had an Etsy business, mostly making cosplay items. When she moved with her kids to the DV shelter she lost all her craft supplies. On leaving the shelter to her mom's house her bank account was overdrawn. She lost health insurance Nov 2019 when her ex dropped her from it.
Without her medications for the rheumatoid arthritis Laura's capacity to take care of the home and try to build her business again declined rapidly.
When the pandemic hit the likelihood of building the Etsy work up was gone, as most clients needed orders for events/conventions etc.
This year Laura has managed to get health insurance back, and started medication in August for the arthritis, but it can take 6 months for full results to be seen, and the time without it means some functionality may never return.
She started taking Etsy work, despite depression hitting hard, to try and improve her financial situation. But the combination of depression and arthritis means she works slower than she used to, and in the past couple of months multiple clients have requested refunds, putting her account into negative and making it even harder to complete other orders that are waiting.
Other than Etsy her only income is child tax credit and child support.
Her mum pays rent on their house and Laura pays bills and food.
I have sent enough to pay the current lights bill so they don't get cut off, and hopefully she will be able to get her phone connected soon. The phone is critical to being able to access mental health supports right now.
Laura is also desperate to be able to pay someone to clean the house, as her medical conditions have meant she has been unable to keep on top of it, and any energy/spoons has been put towards trying to finish Etsy orders.
