Support for Laurie Doss

Hi, my name is Lori Pelech and I'm an alum of the Marvelwood School, where Laurie Doss has been a science teacher for 35 years. Laurie is a dedicated teacher and mentor who has inspired countless alums to pursue careers in teaching as well as science. She is also a conservationist and animal lover. Laurie leads a Guiding Eyes for the Blind puppy training program on Marvelwood's campus, is a member of the Board of Directors for the Kent Land Trust and the Purple Martin Conservation Association, and works with the State of Connecticut on multiple environmental science efforts. She is selfless and tireless in her efforts to educate students and preserve nature.

Laurie was recently diagnosed with stage IIIC1 endometrial cancer and is beginning chemotherapy. While this is scary and challenging on its own, the situation is further complicated by the fact that Laurie's mom suffered a stroke in the past year and lives with her and depends on her for care. Laurie is incurring significant costs with needing to pay for her mom's part-time caretaker to take on additional hours, hiring a cleaning person, as well as paying medical bills.

I am hopeful people will contribute what they are able to give, knowing the costs Laurie is incurring will be protracted and significant.
