Support for Holocaust survivor, Leon Schagrin
Donation protected
Thank you for visiting this page! I'm asking you all to please help me help Leon Schagrin. Leon is now 94 years old, and is a Holocaust survivor who was liberated from Auschwitz-Birkenau on January 27, 1945. He spent more than 60 blissful years married to his beloved Betty S., who also survived the Holocaust via Oskar Schindler's List. Unfortunately, Betty passed away last December, leaving Leon on his own.
Leon and Betty were never able to have children and because the Nazis murdered his parents and siblings he was left without any immediate family. As a result, Leon has no one to take care of the help that a child, nephew or grandchild might do. His macular degeneration inhibits his mobility, and he has no caretakers at night, so he fends for himself. Despite his trauma and hardships Leon loves sharing his personal story about the Holocaust, but struggles to make ends meet. Any contribution would greatly help this needy Holocaust survivor live as he deserves. Leon is on public assistance and receives the maximum Holocaust related benefits… however, this is not enough to cover basic living expenses. He needs our help. Thank you so much for any assistance you can provide.
You can read a story I wrote about him here, that tells his story: https://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/features/auschwitz-survivor-leon-schagrin-suffering-doesn-200123160049840.html
