Support for Lib through her breast cancer journey
Donation protected
After finding a lump in her breast, eventually getting it checked and undergoing numerous scans and tests, my Aunty Libby was diagnosed with stage 3, hormone receptor positive breast cancer. All tests indicated that the cancer was isolated within the breast and on the 8/4/2020 a mastectomy was performed. We thought or more hoped, that she’d dodged a bullet and that the mastectomy would result in her beginning the end of her journey.
Sadly we were wrong, during the mastectomy lymph nodes were removed, a biopsy was performed on them and unfortunately cancer cells were found. 5 weeks later Libby underwent another operation where 22 more lymph nodes were removed.
Due to the invasive nature of libs cancer, chemotherapy was recommended. Libby, determined to kick this, said “lets kill this sucker!” and chose to undergo a dose dense course of chemotherapy over 16 weeks. Now only time will tell how this stage of treatment will fair.
Lib is not someone who would ever ask for help, but right now she really needs it, a month before her official diagnosis her fiancé of 25 years decided he wanted to seperate. As a result she has little to no income to support herself, never mind pay for the numerous medical expenses that come with a cancer diagnosis. Lib has enquired into governement support, but is unable to qualify for any at this time. Libby has always been there for me, she's helped me in times of need, so I’m hoping that in doing this I can do the same for her.
My cousins, my mum and I will be running a variety of fundraising activities and are asking for donations to help pay for Libby’s medical expenses and support Libby through her breast cancer journey.
We really appreciate any contributions, especially during these difficult times and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any support you can give.
If you would like to learn more about libs story and follow her journey, you can request to join Libs facebook support group, Libbys Breast Cancer Journey.
