Guille (Lilia) Barrales, co-director of Kid’s Kingdom orphanage in Imuris, Sonora, Mexico is in need of some help in paying for surgery she has scheduled for Monday, August 26th.
For the last 16 years, Lilia along with her husband Arturo, have dedicated their lives to sharing the love of Christ with the children in their care as well as reaching out to the community with the Gospel message. Their mission and ministry finds its expression in so many different ways; their care and love of children, the help they give to single moms in crisis, and reaching out to any and all in need. Those who know Lilia, know of her love for the Lord, and what a big heart she has for sharing the Gospel and loving people.
We now have an opportunity to reflect some of that same love back to Lilia. Mexico has government health insurance, so Lilia traveled to a neighboring city to get an evaluation and to get her surgery scheduled. Unfortunately, the soonest that they would be able to get her scheduled was over 2 months from now! The next day, they traveled to Nogales to a private hospital and were able to get her surgery scheduled much, much sooner. The down side is that the cost for the surgery has to be paid out of pocket.
Lilia has an tumor on her perineum and it appears that it is attached to her colon. With this type of growth, the doctors will be testing the tissue to make sure it is not cancerous.
In the midst of dealing with her own medical issues, on Monday, August 12, one of the little girls at the orphanage had to be transported by ambulance in the middle of the night to a nearby hospital for an emergency appendectomy. Although most of her costs are covered, there is a balance due of about $300 on her account. Lilia and Arturo do not draw a salary, so they have no means to pay for unexpected expenses. However, that gives caring people of God an opportunity to return the same love of Christ that Lilia and Arturo so selflessly give each and every day.
Any funds given above our goal will be set aside in an account to be used for any future medical or dental care for the children.
