Support for Living Costs After Job Loss
Donation protected
Tried reporting discrimination and harassment, and lost my job. Employer did not investigate it. Government agencies did not investigate or did not properly investigate my complaints (e.g.: my complaint closed without reason and no response when I tried following up and filing an appeal; no response from the agency; complaint accidentally closed; main issues in complaint not investigated). This resulted in significant negative consequences for me, and I am currently looking for help with covering living costs.
The main incident was when I asked for disability accommodations and my employer was telling me that I should not ask for accommodations and that they are not going to do anything. People were avoiding me, my supervisor wanted that I find someone else to work with, there was no funding for me, I was told that I should not have accommodations, I was told that I need to leave my work. It was awful.
When I contacted my employer's reporting offices to submit a discrimination complaint, I was told that my experiences are not against any policy and so I could not submit a complaint. I was also told that I was not discriminated based on disability. Only after half a year my employer allowed me to submit a complaint. However, this was just the beginning. I will skip details. There was practically no investigation (e.g., my employer considered that there is no need to interview any witnesses), policies related to reporting processes were not followed, incidents continued, I lost my work position, I was told that I should not report incidents, and in the end, I was terminated.
All of this had a big impact on me and has been a very stressful and traumatic experience. Currently, I am representing myself in court against my (former) employer, which takes a lot of time. Applying to new job positions has been challenging.
Last few months have been difficult. I am not able to pay bills and I have had no adequate access to food and hygiene items. This further makes it difficult to focus on finding a new job and continuing to represent myself in court. Donations would be used to cover phone bills (currently a bit above $100; my phone number would get suspended and deleted if the bills are not paid), food, hygiene items, and other living costs.
UPDATE (posted on 11/27/2024): Phone bill and food costs were successfully paid!! Next goal is to pay December costs (phone bill close to $60, food, hygiene items, part of utilities bills, and other living costs). I would also need to pay $30 (in the beginning of December) and $120 for career consultations. Career consultations would help me to be more resilient and to find a new job position after my experiences.
Any help would be great!
