Support for Logan Huston
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Lori and I created this Go Fund Me on behalf of my 17-year-old nephew, Logan Huston. Logan is currently a Junior honors student at Carbondale area cyber academy.
He was born with a condition called Plexiform Neurofibroma, which causes tumors to form in the brain, spinal cord, and nerves throughout the body. He suffers from multiple medical issues resulting from these tumors and is currently under the care of seven different specialist at the Children's hospital of Philadelphia.
Logan was born with a large mass in his hand that has grown exponentially over the past few years. He remained stable up until 2022, when the tumor became aggressive and was difficult to treat. He has been on and off chemotherapy to treat the tumors throughout his body but especially the one in his hand. Most recently, he was beginning to lose function of his thumb, the tumor ate away at the tendons, but the good news is that the tumor has shrunk enough from the chemo for them to attempt removal.
On March 13th, his surgical team will remove the tumor as well as reconstruct his hand and attempt to bring functionality back to his thumb. We were advised that it will be a difficult, risky, surgery that could result in excessive blood loss, but in order to have a normal functioning hand, Logan has decided to have the surgery . After surgery, he will have a drainage tube plus extensive physical therapy.
My sister has struggled for years with medical bills, trips constantly back and forth to Philly for tests and treatments and has shouldered the financial burden as best she could, while trying to provide Logan and the rest of the family with some sort of normalcy.
With her not being able to work, I'm hoping to help defray some of the financial burden so she can just focus on Logan's care. The co-pays, traveling expenses, paying for food really adds up fast.
Logan is a true warrior and has a great attitude towards life and is always there to help others in need. I am hoping that others will now come together to assist Logan and his family in their time of need. Any donation will help tremendously. If you can't donate at this time, please say a prayer for a safe and successful surgery and a speedy recovery!! We will keep everyone updated!
