Help bring water access to the people of Loíza during the water crisis in Puerto Rico.
Puerto Rico is facing a water crisis with nearly 68% of the island experiencing a severe drought. This is the result of climate change, failing infrastructure, and poor management by Puerto Rico's central government. Several municipalities have begun locally mandated water rationing efforts, including Loíza, one of the most impacted locations in the island.
Loíza is an epicenter of AfroBoricua communities and a cultural anchor for all of Puerto Rico. Honorable Mayor Nazario is a respected leader that always puts her community first. Their communities are struggling and they are calling for support.
Please consider donating to this fund that will resource water access for elders and families in Loíza. Funds will also support a group of land workers who are organizing water access for elders across various municipalities.
Your contribution will help supply the following:
- Boxes of drinking water for families and elders
- ️Water barrels for collection and storage
- Water filters for purifying rainwater
- Cisterns for longer-term water security
These are needs identified by the municipality of Loíza and organizers on the ground. Please donate and share across your networks. Every contribution helps provide water access for families facing this crisis.
A heartfelt thank you for supporting our communities.
