Support for Luke Mertz

Hello I’m Anna, Luke’s sister in law and many have asked how you can help Luke in his journey. Luke is a father of 3 beautiful children Leeland (14), Adelynn (12) and Jasper (9). He also is married to his wonderful wife Sarah for the past 17 years.

As many of you have heard Luke’s Journey started back in December following an episode of vision loss in his right eye which doctors had initially told him was from a stroke. Jump now to April he had another episode of flashing in his right eye with vision changes which led to another MRI that showed a Glioma, brain tumor, in his left occipital region. This was no news a young father and husband wanted to hear. A referral to Mayo in Rochester was made to answer questions and to determine a treatment plan moving forward.

Come May 6th Luke will be down at Mayo to receive a chemo/radiation drug 24 hrs prior to brain surgery on May 7th. Following surgery doctors will determine the size and type of Glioma they are dealing with which will lead them to a treatment plan for further chemo and radiation treatments.

This journey will include many trips to Mayo and time away from work for both Luke and Sarah. Luke has been nothing short of an inspiration with his positivity and faith in God. He has shown so much strength, resilience and determination to get his treatment/journey in motion. With the many unknowns of his treatment journey he will be gone from work for many days, along with increased expenses for gas and hotel stays. I’ve had many people reach out and ask how they can help. At this time to have some of the financial burden off there shoulders would be a tremendous relief as Luke’s journey starts.
