Support for Luna Crawford & the Crawford Family
Donation protected
I remember the first time I met the Crawfords - Shaughn, Saira, Luna and Penelope - and quickly learned that when you are in need, they are the first to help. A call to check in, bringing you tea, ordering you dinner on those nights that feel impossible.
Our incredible friends, this amazing family, has had to endure the stuff of nightmares over the last few days, as they learned their daughter, Luna, has a brain tumor right before her 8th birthday.
The Crawfords are cared for by many and as news of Luna spread, it was clear our community needed an avenue to show love and support. This GoFundMe offers an opportunity to rally around this sweet family, and alleviate the concerns we can, when so much feels out of our control!
For those who may not know them closely, I want to tell you a little about Luna and the Crawford family, before I get into more details.
Luna is the type of girl you meet once and you know is someone special. She has a sparkle in her eye that allows her to shine above the rest (the height from her dad, notwithstanding). She is kind, smart, and genuine - a true gem. Lu is an amazing big sister, wonderful cousin, and cherished friend. The Crawfords are a close family. Their love for each other is so strong that it’s palpable when you’re around them, and they are quick to surround friends in that love as well.
The details: On Wednesday, October 18th, Luna was airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles, after doctors discovered a brain tumor. Since then, doctors and nurses have been working diligently and quickly to help our sweet girl.
After playing around and hitting her head, it is thought that the tumor started to bleed causing swelling in her head. Early Thursday morning they had to intubate Luna and insert an External Ventricular Drain (EVD). The following morning, Friday, October 20th, Luna underwent a successful brain surgery to remove the mass. Luna did amazing!
Following the surgery will be more MRIs, continued testing and a biopsy that will offer more details, but Children’s Hospital has told Saira and Shaughn to expect to be at the hospital for several weeks and months of recovery, rehab and possibly more surgeries if needed.
Thank you, in advance, for your support. Anything, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated.
