Support for Maegan's family in their time of need

Donation protected
Hello One and All,

I am writing this on behalf of my dear friend, Maegan Gindi.

Last week on February 13th, Maegan's mother, Debbie, was involved in an accident where she slipped and fell on a patch of ice at night. She was brought to Staten Island University Hospital with multiple fractured vertebrae in her neck. She underwent surgery to fix the subsequent damage, which was successful. Unfortunately, tragic events followed and unforeseen complications left her in a state of unresponsive wakefulness that she would never recover from.

Maegan and Debbie's partner, Nick, were by her side every waking moment, tirelessly advocating for her care when she was unable to do so for herself. After receiving MRI results illustrating the irreversible damage to her brain, it became clear that she would have no quality of life. She died within 48 hours of those results. Maegan, Nick, her son Chad, sister Wendi, and niece Danielle were by her side.

I have known Maegan, Debbie, Nick, and Chad for 22 years. In that time, she's always treated me as one of her own children.

Anyone who knew Debbie, or knew of her, knew her as a funny, warm, loving, and energetic soul. She was born with the gift of gab, and made friends everywhere she went. Her favorite topic of discussion was how endlessly proud she was of her children.

Maegan, Nick, Chad, and their family can really use our support during this incredibly difficult time. Maegan and Chad were only just beginning to adjust to life after the loss of their father to COVID three years ago. Nick and Debbie were together for over 30 years.

If you have ever dealt with the unbearable grief of losing a parent or partner, you know that funeral expenses add up quickly, and hospital bills can be exorbitant, often creating a positively overwhelming burden.

Maegan is a freelance photographer, and Nick and Chad run their own businesses. They have missed out on multiple days of work and employment opportunities. Neither have had the time, or the mental/emotional bandwidth, to cook substantial and nutritious meals for themselves.

The family extends their sincerest gratitude for your contribution, no matter the amount, as they cope with this devastating and unexpected loss.

In memory of Debbie, we encourage you to share this link with friends, family, and any groups you may feel appropriate.

In addition, the family has committed to donating a portion of the funds to St. Jude's Research Fund, Debbie's favorite charity, in her memory.

Thank you for your time and attention. Please be sure to hug your loved ones.
