Support for Marissa Sobilo & Tom Crawford
Donation protected
This week, my sister in law’s health took a very traumatic turn. Marissa has been battling on and off health issues, which most recently resulted in a stay at the hospital in Buffalo. Due to the severity of her needs and the rapid progression of liver/kidney failure, she was taken via Mercy flight to Mt. Sinai, in NYC. Tom has been by her side every step of the way. Bev, Greg, and Jane are also with them in the city. This week, her health continued to decline, and she was placed into a medically induced coma with a ventilator to support her breathing and reduce brain swelling. Her liver failure continued to rapidly progress, at that time she was eligible for a liver transplant. While waiting for the possibility of a transplant, Marissa’s health worsened.
This is when Tom’s journey begins… Tom immediately asked to be tested, and matched as a living donor. Marissa and Tom were rushed late Thursday night into emergency transplant surgery. After an 8 hour surgery, Tom is awake, healing, and eager to be with Marissa again. Marissa was strong during her surgery and the portion of Tom’s liver was accepted! However, Marissa continues to remain unconscious on the ventilator, not able to breathe independently yet. The recovery process alone will be a long road, especially while being hundreds of miles from family and friends.
At this time, the family is asking for prayers, well wishes, and any possible donation to assist them with this traumatic emergency as their uphill battle is far from over.
Respectfully yours,
The Sobilo/Schultz and Crawford families.
