Support for Mark and Cheryl

On the early morning of August 24, 2022, our mom, Cheryl Lee, suffered a devastating ischemic stroke while exercising. Our father, Mark, by sheer odds, found her soon after it happened. She was taken to Sara Busch Hospital and, from there, was airlifted to Carle Foundation Hospital. The stroke affected a large portion of the right side of her brain, leaving the left side of her body paralyzed. Yet, she miraculously made it through the critical days of brain swelling without having major surgery! It seems to have been a dance of one step forward and two steps back these past couple of weeks, along with bumps in the road, but she is still here and has her sharp mind, witty humor, and still worrying about caring about others before herself. While fighting for her life, she has sent family members on errands to buy birthday gifts and cards for all family September birthdays and praying for one of her ICU nurses, Mickey, who was to have a c-section on Labor Day!

Mark has been by her side the entire time, demonstrating true love and devotion. He has not returned to work and will be Cheryl’s 24-7 caregiver for the foreseeable future. Cheryl has been a pillar of Fit-2-Serve for the past seven years and will not be able to return to work. Mark and Cheryl will need help in the coming months paying household bills, medical expenses, travel, food and some lodging for Mark, and necessities that arise.

She continues to ask for your prayers and thanks those who have not stopped praying for her! She is ready to fight and work hard to return to the community she loves dearly! As she keeps saying, “God is not done with me yet!”
