We put all we have into this business over the 26 years since beginning work on Martyrs’. Thanks to all our staff, the neighbors, non-profits, school groups, promoters, National, International, Regional and Local artists, and the million music lovers who have walked through these doors. We share memorable times here. We truly love working with you on your wedding, graduation, anniversary and birthday parties. We share in the thrill of watching your musical heroes up close in the greatest sounding room in Chicago, whether they are living legends, rising stars, or your kid’s first time on a stage. It's great to hear your stories at our spoken word events. We have watched our neighborhood transform over the years, and we raised our children in this neighborhood together.
The Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent closure of indoor business last March has made continued tenancy untenable.
Vacancy cannot support property taxes, licensing fees, utilities, insurance and building maintenance.
We applaud the tireless work of so many communicating with government at all levels to shed light on the economic engine that venues provide for their neighborhoods. This sector, the creative economy, employs millions and helps fill the planes, restaurants, hotels, cabs, shops and taverns along its route. We are hopeful that the recent relief bill will help save our stages.
Covid-19 will continue to cloud our lives for months to come.
Martyrs’ will not open at any capacity until a vaccine is readily available. Along with other founding members of the Chicago Independent Venue League and the National Independent Venue Association, we fully support lockdown measures to help mitigate COVID 19.
The goal of every music venue in America is to make people happy.
We are Chicago’s family owned and operated independent music venue. We need your help to get us to the light at the end of the tunnel! Thanks for your consideration.
Peace, Harmony, Melody & Rhythm,
Your sisters and brothers at Martyrs'
