Dear Friends, Family, and Community,

My name is Leah Marshall.

It is with broken hearts that my brother and I share the tragic loss of our beloved mother, Mary, and her service dog, Suki. Our mom was taken from us far too soon in a heartbreaking river accident that has left our family devastated. She was not just our mom, but a former Marine with 20 years of service, a friend, a sister, a daughter, and a fierce protector to everyone who knew her.

As we face the reality of moving forward without her, we are asking for your support to cover the unexpected expenses that are not covered under her military service plans. These expenses include:

• Flying me from Japan back home to be with my family and finalize arrangements.

• Transporting my mom’s and her service dog's body to the military for a proper farewell.

• Traveling to Northern California to retrieve her car and bring it back home.

• Covering utilities and other miscellaneous costs as we navigate through this difficult time.

• Covering repairs needed to fix a gas and water leak.

• Creating a lasting memorial at the campsite honoring my mom, reminding others of the importance of water safety - a message that could potentially save lives.

Our mom dedicated her life to caring for others, and now we want to honor her in the way she deserves. Mary was a single mom who raised us with love, strength, and determination. Now it’s our turn to give her the respectful farewell she so deeply deserves.
