Support for Mary Beth’s Battle Against Cancer

While working a shift in the Pediatric Emergency Department, Mary Beth received a call about some concerning lab results. It was recommended for her to go to the Adult Emergency Department for some urgent scans. That night, while still in her scrubs, Mary Beth was diagnosed with cancer that had already progressed to the bone and liver. Instead of returning to work and finishing her shift, she herself was admitted to the hospital for more testing. The work up moved quickly and a biopsy was done that determined this nightmare to be metastatic breast cancer. Mary Beth is 36 years old.

Mary Beth is a dedicated Pediatric ED nurse, and takes pride in saving baby’s lives everyday. She has dedicated her life to taking care of those who either walk, wheel or are carried through the doors of the Pediatric Emergency Room in the heart of Charleston, South Carolina. She is an incredible teammate, a fierce advocate for her patients, and extremely skilled in a very challenging field. Anyone who has had the privilege of working with her, or being cared for by her, knows that when she is around everyone is safe.

But now it is our turn to help her feel safe as Mary Beth finds herself facing an unfathomable, up-hill battle that will require all the strength she has. Her friends who love her dearly have decided to set up this fundraiser to help offset her living and medical expenses, and also to remind her she is NOT doing this alone.
