Mason Ma Recovery Fund - Oakland Shooting

On Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at around 8:45 pm, my brother Mason fell victim to a mass casualty shooting at Lake Merritt, Oakland and sustained three gunshot wounds on his way to a Korean BBQ restaurant he frequented.
14 people suffered gun injuries, and only 2 arrests have been made so far. More information about the events of that night can be found here:
Mason was in a critical state when he was transported from the crime scene to a nearby hospital. He received multiple surgeries, including several bypass surgeries due to immense blood loss and the amputation of his right index finger. One bullet that still remains in his left upper thigh will be removed after initial recovery, but his left leg is unlikely to operate at full capacity again. On top of these life altering injuries, Mason suffers from emotional and mental trauma, memory loss and is in intense chronic pain.
Mason is a caring and diligent partner, brother, son, uncle and friend. He is a selfless person who is attentive to those around him. As a hardworking first generation immigrant, he has an established career as a project manager. He supports his retired father.
The funds raised here and via Venmo (@Mason-Mac) will go directly towards Mason’s medical expenses, including surgeries, rehabilitation and any necessary specialized equipment or prosthetics. Gofundme charges fees, so if possible the proceeds on Venmo will go 100% to my brother. Any amount helps and brings us one step closer to our goal.
