Support for Massimo Squitieri and Family

Six weeks ago (early October 2022), Massimo began experiencing scary and painful periods of shortness of breath. He went to his doctor for a round of tests, followed by a visit to the local hospital’s emergency room. He was released and went home. Two weeks later, he was admitted to the hospital, not realizing that his life would never be the same. Massimo has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Sadly, he is currently in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania’s intensive care unit – he has undergone a treatment of chemotherapy and is on a ventilator to aid his breathing.

Besides being an amazing, energetic, and vivacious friend and colleague to many, Massimo is also a caring and loving father to his son, Luca and a cherished husband to his new bride, Claudia. Throughout this time, Massimo has tried to stay positive and has no other goal but to stay focused on his recovery and reunite with his family.

As you may imagine, the insurmountable stress that comes with such a life-threatening diagnosis is unimaginable. Facing such a severe condition is not something his family was prepared for - who would be when one day this strong and driven man was working and caring for his family and the next, he was incapacitated due to this very serious illness. While he is in the best hospital for his condition, and we are grateful for that - it comes at a cost. A cost that brings with it insurmountable hospital expenses.

Massimo has friends around the world who care for him and love him. They have reached out to ask what they can do for him. So here is the answer to that question – PLEASE step up to support his beautiful family and help relieve some of that stress.
