Support for Matthew and the Mursch Family
Matthew is an 8 year old boy who was born with a congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. He was born at CHOP where he had 3 open heart surgeries and countless other procedures.
Within the past 5 months he has had some difficulties. He suffered from a failed GI surgery and contracted MRSA while recovering. He needed a second surgery. While inpatient they noticed his blood lines were very low and chalked it up to be caused by infection in his body. After being home for a month he had repeat labs which showed multiple blood lines being attacked. He was recently diagnosed with ALPS syndrome. Autoimmune lymphoproliferative syndrome is an inherited disorder in which the body cannot properly regulate the number of immune system cells (lymphocytes). ALPS is characterized by the production of an abnormally large number of lymphocytes. He has a 50% chance that this can turn into a Lymphoma. He has had to stop attending school until he can get his blood levels elevated. He will have to travel to CHOP quite frequently. We want to help defray medical costs, travel cost, and any financial hardship.
Lynn and Matt are amazing parents to Matthew. I hope we can all pull together and help this loving family get through a very difficult time. Thank you and god bless ❤️
