Support For Matthew Couch and Family
When tragedy hits, we often forget about the mental health side of things as we quickly try to fix the physical.
Matt couch was a survivor of the tragic accident on hwy 28 in Peterborough last Friday night. Matt remembers waking up face down in the ditch on August 6 2021. A pair of arms comforted him as he walked to the side of the road. Matt saw the shadows on the ground laying around him, and the bystanders that were unsure of how to provide support. This is a memory that will forever haunt him.
Matt is a beautiful soul that continues to provide love, strength and support to all of his friends and the grieving family who lost their son Neil in the horrific collision that night.
When Matt comforts you with his arms, you feel his sadness as he squeezes you with every ounce of his being. He then follows it up with, "if you need anything, please reach out".
Despite Matt only having a dislocated shoulder and some scratches on his arms, he will forever be reminded of the night he lost his life long friend, Neil.
Survivor guilt is real and affects individuals such as Matt.
As an amazing community such as this, we have supported all the lives that have been affected by tragedy in the last month. Some lives have been lost, while others still fight for theirs.
I pray that we can find it in our hearts to support one more. Matt's family will need help for ongoing counseling and loss of work as the near future will provide a reality that none of us wish to accept.
