Support for Michael Bastian's Family

On Monday, December 2, our world was rocked by the sudden passing of Michael Bastian. A beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend to so many, Michael's love for emergency services was only eclipsed by the love he had for his family.

Just 13 months ago, the Bastian family was blessed with a baby girl. Michael was an amazing father; his wife and daughter meant the world to him. Just last week, Michael and Mariah announced to their family that they'd be welcoming another baby girl this coming May. Michael, Mariah, Alaina, and baby Bastian had the whole world ahead of them, and now his wife is left without a husband, and his daughters are left without a father.

Michael was a dedicated community servant. From a young age, he followed in his father's footsteps, becoming a volunteer firefighter and EMT. In the last 20 years, he worked for the William Cameron Engine Company, Evangelical Hospital, Harrisburg International Airport, and most recently, the Williamsport Bureau of Fire. Michael was also an accomplished instructor, teaching for the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy, Bucks County Community College, and the Harrisburg Area Community College. Michael's unwavering passion, dedication, and competence were readily apparent to all those that he taught and taught with him.

While we can never replace the hole left by Michael's passing, we can help to ease the financial burden placed on his family. Michael dedicated nine years to the Williamsport Bureau of Fire, which is three years short of the time needed for his family to receive a pension. Michael dedicated his life to taking care of others, and now it's our turn to return the favor and take care of his family.
