Support for Midwifery Maui Relief Efforts!

We are HAA - the Hawai’i Affiliate of the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM). Our purpose in this campaign is to offer sustained support to the Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM) and Certified Midwives (CM) working directly with families and communities displaced by the Maui wildfires. Our CNMs and CMs know their local situations well and are in dialogue with HAA board members, regarding emergency response, clinical needs, mental health concerns, and continuity of care in a challenging time. Contributions will go directly to midwifery work and community organizations with whom midwives have or can forge direct connections. The Hawai'i Affiliate of the American College of Nurse Midwives has 501(c)(6) status.

Examples of potential recipients of funds:

FQHC Malama I Ke Ola provides culturally sensitive, coordinated primary care services emphasizing education, prevention, and advocacy, regardless of one’s ability to pay at the time of visit.

Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies is a local nonprofit agency committed to improving Hawai‘i’s maternal, child, and family health through collaborative efforts in programs, public education, advocacy, and partner development.

Kalauokekahuli supports Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander pregnant, birthing, and postpartum people by providing culturally-based perinatal support and education.

Maui Breastfeeding Support is offering free lactation services to families who have suffered in the Maui wildfires.

Maui Strong Mental Health Response is a volunteer group addressing immediate disaster relief for mental health needs, including one-on-one care, online support groups, & online training.

Pacific Birth Collective is community-based professional collective growing a network of service providers and island families dedicated to education, support, and advocacy for birth & wellness choices across Hawai'i.
