Support for Mike Ehlers Medical Expenses

    Hello, my name is Melissa and I’m collecting donations for my brother Mike Ehlers. On Saturday, October 22nd Mike went into sudden cardiac arrest while we were all at dinner together in Austin, TX after celebrating our brother’s wedding the day before. CPR and defibrillation were done while still at the restaurant to bring him back. He was taken to St David’s Hospital in Austin where he coded a few more times before they were able to finally get his heart rhythm stabilized. He is currently still in the hospital undergoing tests and will be getting a defibrillator implanted in his chest.

    Mike is a healthy, fit, active 34 year old man with no previous heart conditions. He is a physical therapist in Florida and just got married to his wife, Lauren, this past May. Anyone who has ever met my brother, even if it was brief, has some kind of hilarious story about him. He loves making people smile and laugh - he also enjoys belting out a good solo performance of any song you throw at him.

    He will hopefully be released from the hospital soon but has a long road ahead of him - figuratively and literally, as they will have to drive home to Florida from Texas. We are unsure of how long both Mike and Lauren will be out of work for, and Mike may not be able to drive for quite some time. Any money donated will go towards medical bills, travel costs, and support as they navigate the next steps in their life.
