Hi everyone! As many of you may know, back in 2006, our mom was diagnosed with Acromegaly (a brain tumor the size of a 50-cent piece on her pituitary gland, which is the size of a pea). She had two brain surgeries at the Mayo Clinic and was sent home to recover. We are forever grateful for the team at Mayo for taking such good care of our mom at that time.
Fast-forward to 2022, mom started to experience frequent nosebleeds. Not the regular nosebleed type, but the severity depended on the day. Some days it was okay, and other days they would be severe. She would fill up buckets worth of blood at a time. As the days went on, the nosebleeds became more frequent and more severe. Mom has since been seen at Essentia by their neurology department and underwent exploratory surgery to embolize what they thought was the source of the nosebleeds. However, she had another bloody nose within 24 hours. With all that going on, mom would typically get really weak and sick, with no other choice but to go in for blood transfusions. After the very unsuccessful surgery at Essentia, mom was feeling super hopeless and defeated. She then sought treatment at Sanford, with her primary doctor. She was then referred to Neurology at Sanford and went through yet another exploratory surgery to try and find the cause. At this point, we were all exhausted and desperate for some answers. Unfortunately, that surgery was unsuccessful as well.
Fast forward to last week, mom was referred to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for further testing and scans. As of today, the cause of the severe bleeding is still unknown. They have completed many CT scans, MRIs, blood work, and everything keeps coming up clear. Mom has stumped the specialists at Mayo as well. With that being said, the girls and I are trying our best to keep our home life afloat until their return. As of this morning, dad let us know that they weren't entirely sure when they will be coming home. I'm starting this fundraiser to help ease their minds a little bit when it comes time to come home. With all the medical expenses and the frequent trips to the hospital that have prevented them from being able to go to work.
As many of you may know, my parents are very caring and selfless people. They always want to help everyone around them. My parents were always welcoming to anyone and everyone coming into our home, always trying to make sure everyone could feel the love they had to offer. Please consider donating to our family today. If you can't donate, please consider keeping us in your prayers. We have a long road ahead of us. Thanks for taking the time to read about our family!
Love,
Lexi, Emma, Lauryn,
and don't forget mom and dad <3
