Support for Monte's Loving Legacy and Farewell

Hey everyone, I usually don't make things like this but at this time I really need all the help and support I can get from the community, friends, family. I am making this on behalf of my dad, Monte Leidholm(75yrs) who had passed away September 30, 2024.

Monte ( my dad) was on his way to Gunnison, Colorado to take pictures of the fall leaves. He had made it into Durango sometime around Sunday evening and was struck by a car walking back to his hotel from the gas station , we believe my dad may have been having a medical emergency that clouded his judgement by walking into traffic. It was a very devastating to hear that my dad had to go the way he did , we are more devastated that he's gone.

My dad , Monte, adopted and raised me as a single dad when I was 3 years old. He worked 30 years at Children's hospital as a respiratory therapist and retired in 2016. He was very passionate about his work and enjoyed what he did. He also was a very loving, caring, dad who did everything he could and can for me. He enjoyed traveling and we spend almost every summer together traveling. My most memorable trips would be when he took me to Alaska in 2005 and Disneyland in 2008. He was a very proud grandpa to his only grandson Ethan, and when my dad retired he had started taking Ethan on his summer trips with him.

After retirement my dad lived in a R.V for about 5 years and he drove and traveled all over the place. He later on settled down in Oregon for a couple years until he sold his r.v and moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico to live in a 1 bedroom apartment. He spent most of his time hanging out at home watching his favorite shows the Big bang theory and reading his books. Weekends he may take short drives.

My dad's passing has been very difficult and unexpected. His wishes for when he passed were to be cremated and to spread his ashes out into nature. We plan on doing that, we are not sure if there will be a service yet just because of the financial situation we are left with. I am missing time off work to deal with all of this and my fiance Phillip has been at work so we keep a roof over our heads. Over the next month we will be planning a trip to new Mexico to get all of my dad's stuff and bringing it back here , along with all his stuff in his storage unit and his vehicle. I am making this , reaching out for help from those who knew him and to help us get his stuff home with traveling expenses, funeral/cremation preparations and missing work for traveling time. My work does not cover bereavement so this was my last option to reach out for anyone to help us. Thank you and God bless.
