Support for Mort’s New Camera System

Hello, my name is Jenn King and I am currently the LHS Lions Pride Players Booster President. I have known Mort Shuman for over 3 years and let me say he is the most giving person I’ve ever met. He never asks for anything but offers the world! To not just his home school but to all of Carroll County. Here is a bit about Mort:

“Hello – my name is Mort Shuman, and for the past 14+ years, I’ve been taking photos around town, including school plays, sports, and local community events and served as an unofficial documentarian to many of those living in the Eldersburg/Sykesville area. While I do charge money for things like Senior Portraits, many of the things I have photographed in the past – especially things related to the local schools that my children have attended - I have done so without charging. For years, I just wanted to document the memories of not only my own children but those other kids from the families in my community. Many of the yearbook photos you have seen as well as those shared on social media were from my camera – I love looking back on those wonderful years and am happy to do so for other parents and families.”

On June 4, 2024, Mort was once again taking photos at the Liberty High School graduation – something he has done for the past 7 years - when he noticed that his lens was no longer functioning properly. He seemed so down about this but fortunately, he had already captured the photos of the graduating class of 2024. He never asks money for these shots either. He does it because he knows that the parents can’t get as close as he can and most don’t have the same type of equipment. Plus, he wants parents to enjoy themselves at graduation, not have to worry about taking photos!

After talking with our Booster Board we knew we had to help! And we thought, no we knew that many in our community would want to help as well! Mort has always been the taker of pictures, the man behind the lens, he goes to every drama show in the county, all the sports, graduations, and homecomings! Let’s keep him doing what he loves!

ANY amount you could pitch in would be EXTREMELY appreciated – Mort can’t say enough about how wonderful it is to be part of this great community. Getting a new, modern system would go a long way in helping him take his photography to the next level and also provide even better photos to all of you.
