Support for The Nelson Family's Medical Journey
Donation protected
Hello,
So many of you know Amy and Chad Nelson, either through Amy's teaching at Red Wing High School, or Chad through the Environmental Learning Center. These two amazing people have raised 3 equally amazing children, Freya, Parker, and Wyatt. The Nelson family is about to go through a challenging medical journey, and we, friends of the family, want to make sure that money is the least of their worries during this difficult time.
Wyatt, who is the youngest of the three just turned 20 last month. Doctors at St. Luke's in Duluth found cancer in Wyatt's mouth and neck in an exploratory surgery at the end of April. The family has consulted Doctors and specialists and have decided to go with a care team at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Wyatt will have a surgery to remove all the cancer and reconstruct his mouth on May 23. There will likely be after treatment required.
We want to make sure that taking care of Wyatt and his recovery can be their first priority. There are going to be a lot of out-of-pocket medical expenses as well as extensive time where Wyatt is expected to live at the Mayo clinic, requiring travel, stays away from home, and lost work. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Please help us show the Nelson family the love that they have shown us through their extensive years of teaching our children, both in the classroom and in the woods.
In addition to donating, you can also join their Caring Bridge at this link below to keep up to date on Wyatt's progress while respecting his privacy as needed.
