Support for Nolan "Bubba" Ornelas & Family

Hi, my name is Danielle Welch and I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my sister and brother-in-law Leah and Nick Ornelas and their son Nolan "Bubba" Ornelas. Donations will be used to support the family's financial needs as they are displaced from their home and employment to seek the critically necessary treatment for Bubba as he recovers from injuries sustained in an accident that occurred on September 1st.

After nearly 11 days of care at a hospital in their hometown of Wichita, KS it was decided that a transfer to Children's Mercy was of immediate need. So on Monday, September 12th Nolan was Life Flighted from Wichita to Kansas City and has since been in the terrific care of Children's Mercy Kansas City's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

As of Wednesday, September 14th, we are being told that there is no way of telling how long his road recovery will be, but that he will indeed recover! Therefore, how long he will need to remain in Kansas City is unknown. Which also means, that how long Nick, Leah, their 12 year old son Nick Jr and 5-month-old Lydia must also remain in Kansas City is unknown.

They are currently staying with family in the suburbs of Kansas City while commuting daily to downtown to be with Nolan.

As you can imagine... there are a lot of financial needs that come with situations like this, but especially in the case of my sister and brother-in-law. During this time, Nick is unable to work (as a very talented Barber), and being that he is self-employed, they have no income during this time. Which is why I am starting this fundraiser because I (and the rest of our family) want to help alleviate any stresses or concerns that come from finances during times like this. We want to make sure that Nick and Leah are able to be fully present for each interaction with Nolan's medical team, and that they are not having to worry about how they'll pay bills, buy groceries/gas, etc.

Our initial goal is to raise enough funds for at least a few months of recovery time for Nolan and the loss of income for their family. We greatly appreciate any kind of support that you can send to this family whether it be prayers, encouragement or a donation.
