Support for Pedro Meza's Family After Tragedy
Donation protected
Our gardener, Pedro Meza, has been working for us (and several neighbors) for many years. Over those years, we would occasionally see his teenage son working with him and even his wife, Dora. It was Dora who called me last week to share the very sad news that Pedro had passed away. The circumstances, however, were terrible and tragic and I am hoping we can collectively help the family.
On the evening of July 31, Pedro was driving through San Gabriel. While the details are scarce, he went through a stop sign and did not immediately stop when pursued by San Gabriel police. He stopped on a street in Rosemead soon after. Again, not having details, Pedro was then shot and killed by the police. The California Department of Justice has opened an investigation.
Raised in East LA, Pedro and Dora were married for 30 years. They have two children and several grandchildren. Dora describes Pedro as having been a loving husband and a great father and grandfather. His family was put before everyone and everything. Pedro was the sole means of support for the family.
Please consider helping this family. We hear about these tragedies but most of us are never affected by them. This wonderful family has been and they need our support now more than ever.
