Support for Pops in His Cancer Battle

My name is Misty. I have known and worked with Donald "Pops" Mortimer for over 3 years. Although it seems as if I've known him much longer. A lot of you probably know Pops from Bud Hut or from the local community. He is a beloved co-worker and friend to all. In the past few months, his health has taken a sudden decline and he has been in a significant amount of pain and now has to use a walker or wheelchair to get around. He was initially diagnosed with severe Osteoarthritis in his hips and was told he would need hip replacements. Unfortunately his MRI also showed a softball size mass on his liver and a mass on his kidney that would need to be further evaluated. After completing a PET scan, it was determined to be Liver Cancer. According to the doctors, the mass is too large to operate on. He has an appointment with the Oncologist on May 31st to develop a plan of attack. Despite everything that has been thrown at Pops these last few months, he continues to push through it all and still comes to work every weekend.

The main goal of this fundraiser is to help provide some relief to Pops and his wife Georgie during this time and during his upcoming cancer treatment and to provide some financial relief so Pops doesn't feel like he has to come to work to make ends meet at home. They are both in their 70's and living on a limited income. With Pops having limited mobility, he relies on Georgie for most things. They have become overwhelmed with the recent news, stress, and increasing medical costs and could use some help and support from the community. All funds raised go directly to a bank account in Donald & Georgie's name.
