Support in Memoriam for Dalia Elmalawany

What Has Happened

Our young sister Dalia Elmalawany suddenly passed away this past Thursday. Dalia was just 14 years old and is survived by her mother Rachel Elmalawany and her father Tamer Elmalawany and his family. Right now we are asking that you give the family privacy and space to cope with Dalia's passing and when details are available they will be shared. Dalia was the apple of her parents eyes and a source of incredible inspiration and joy to all those who knew and loved her. The best way we felt we could begin to honor Dalia's short but beautiful life was to create this fundraiser to ease the family's burden especially for her mother as she navigates all of the obstacles as a result.

What Your Support Provides

This fundraiser has been organized by Rachel Elmalawany's close friends to support her on this journey as she begins to cope with the devastating loss of her only child. Money raised will cover preparation costs for the body in China, travel costs from China to Texas, funeral/burial expenses, cost of living for Rachel while she is in the U.S. until she returns in August, and travel back to China where she lives. We don't want her to have financial burdens of any kind to occupy her mind so she can focus on her grief and next steps.

Who Was Dalia

Dalia was raised in North Texas and living and attending school in China where she moved with her mother Rachel who became a teacher there this past school year. Dalia was Rachel's only child and the absolute love of her life. We who have had the pleasure of knowing Dalia got to watch this beautiful, spirited, intelligent, curious, and ambitious soul grow into the incredible young woman she became. She was a great student and a fierce pursuer of justice. She was especially focused on environmental justice, social justice, and animal rights. She had no shortage of opinions and one of her favorite hobbies was arguing! She was an inductee to the National Junior Honor Society and had her whole life ahead of her but God had his own plans to bring Dalia back to Him. We have included some of our favorite pictures below of this beautiful soul. We are heartbroken to lose her but we trust in the wisdom of our Creator to handle her affairs justly and with the everlasting Mercy only He can provide.

Her family is humbly requesting prayers for their daughter as she journeys back to her Lord. Janaza services will be announced once travel arrangements from China have confirmed. The funeral services will take place at Dar El Eman masjid in South Arlington, Texas and the burial will follow afterwards at the Ar Rawda cemetary in Joshua, Texas.
