Support for Ragan Family's Home Repairs Post-Flood
Donation protected
Family of 4 reaching out for support from Hurricane Helene. My name is Mike ragan, Charlene is my wife. Ezekiel and Isaac pagac are our adult kids. We moved here from Ohio a few years ago to make a better life for our family. We have 2 adult kids with autism and wanted to provide a better life outside of the city for all of us.
I did plumbing and my wife works in waste water plant.
We are grateful that we did not lose everything like so many others have; however, we have some damages to our home. Our insurance did not cover much at all. 250 dollars after deductible.
We never considered flood insurance because we are not directly near river.
Our biggest obstacle right now is raising the funds necessary to fix our retaining walls. The estimates are extremely high and we are looking for enough to get started.
Estimates are around 12 thousand for the front and 20 plus for the rear retaining walls that were damaged from the flood.
The front retaining wall is completely gone and we are worried erosion will continue and impact our home, causing damages to the structure itself.
We have reached out to just about everyone we know, but resources, money, and support have been tight and difficult. There are so many in need of help.
We have been blessed by someone that is donating gravel for our road. So we are very appreciative of them for this.
We have helped a lot of others by delivering food and essentials to those who could not get out. Now we are looking for any help or resources that people are willing to give.
We were landlocked for a week without being able to get cars out of the driveway. Washing laundry in the creek wasn't fun either with no electricity for weeks. Lol
We are not ones to ask for help and are really embarrassed to even do this, but we are in too deep and really can use any help. Anything would help at this point.
We understand it's difficult to trust people and it's sad that anyone would use this platform to scam people.
I'm a former Marine that served at Camp Pendleton in the 80s.
Seems like forever, but I was grateful to have served honorably for our country. Semper Fi.
As we approach winter, I look out my door and continue to worry about the hillside eroding, so that's why I'm reaching out to y'all for any help.
That's always been a great thing about our country, how people pull together during tough times.
Anyways, I'm grateful for any help and anything would be helpful.
Money will be used to repair retaining walls and receipts can be provided as proof of this.
If ya don't have it, please don't give it, but thanks for reading my story anyways.
Peace to all.
