Support for Ramesh's Family

Donation protected
My name is Navya Yalamanchili (33), I'm posting this to support my family, for the treatment of my husband, Ramesh Yalamanchili (40) and daughter, Saanvi (10), and to meet our everyday needs.

My husband (Ramesh) is a beloved father and a very caring husband. He is cheerful, friendly and a very light-hearted individual with a strong connection to the people around him. He is a teetotaler and a very active person with no prior health issues.

Everything came to a standstill on July 5th '23, when my husband, Ramesh Babu Yalamanchili, had severe swelling on his neck/throat and was rushed to the Emergency Department, where doctors then diagnosed him with streptococcus. The infection spread to his kidneys, causing complete renal failure. As the doctors attended to him in the ER, he suffered a severe cardiac arrest for ~5 minutes before he was resuscitated back to life with CPR and electric shock.

He was immediately admitted into the Integrated Care Unit at Mayo Super Speciality Hospital in Scottsdale, AZ with round-the-clock monitoring by the medical team. Upon arrival at the ICU, doctors found that Ramesh had very high levels of toxicity in his blood and zero kidney function, which is currently still putting stress on his other organs. He was in a medically induced coma for the first few days in the ICU. Ramesh was the most critically ill patient in the hospital, experiencing many complications, and initially, he had little to no chance of survival upon admittance to the ICU. Today, around 4 weeks after being in the hospital, he still requires round-the-clock critical care, continuous dialysis, and blood transfusions.

It is during his further treatment and extensive blood tests that doctors suspected Ramesh to have Acute Myeloid Leukemia with 89% abnormal immature white blood cells, which had caused the underlying STREP (bacterial infection) to relentlessly spread throughout his body and result in severe illness, as his immune system was already down fighting the abnormalities in his blood. Doctors have ordered further genetic testing and a bone marrow biopsy to confirm this diagnosis and to determine the severity of his illness. However, based on the Hematologist’s assessment, his body at this time will not withstand chemo or immunotherapy for the treatment of Leukemia, if the stage is acute because he is currently fighting for his life with multiple issues—renal failure due to bacterial infection, severe swelling in his throat (which requires ventilator support), pulmonary infection, and gangrene in his upper and lower extremities.

In a tragic turn of events today, he lost both of his feet, below the knee, due to necrosis in his feet caused by blood clots formed post-cardiac arrest. While Ramesh seems to respond to the treatment and withstand his surgeries, he still has a long, uphill battle to fight, which may include multiple other surgeries, physiotherapy, occupational & recreational therapy, and palliative care. He will also have to undergo extensive rehabilitation and post-operative care, to come back to our family, and his life and livelihood.

My husband, Ramesh, unfortunately, is the sole breadwinner for the family, and our daughter is also being treated with postoperative care and maintenance of Craniopharyngioma for the past three years, which requires continuous medical assessments and support. Our family is currently in emotional distress and looking at a severe financial burden in the coming months from medical and treatment expenses, rehabilitation costs, and more. It is at this point, with him being out of work for a prolonged period, for his wellness, recovery and rehabilitation, that we request our compassionate community and well-wishers to come together and support our family during these testing times.

Above all else, please please keep him and our family in your prayers for his speedy recovery and strength. And please share this with your family and friends to help us get the support we need.
