Support for Reggie's Family During His Treatment

Donation protected
Reggie is a courageous young boy with Trisomy 21 (Down’s Syndrome), who has already faced numerous health struggles. Born with low muscle tone and hypermobility, Reggie has worked hard every day to overcome physical obstacles that most children don’t face. He requires aids to help him sit and develop strength to walk, and he communicates with the help of Makaton. Reggie’s resilience has been nothing short of inspiring as he continues to make progress despite the challenges.

Over the years, Reggie has also battled numerous chest infections and complications related to his condition, which led to the need for a feeding tube. After multiple surgeries, infections, and a long wait, he recently had a button fitted for feeding, but this has caused ongoing complications, requiring more care and antibiotics.

Despite these challenges, the most recent and devastating news came when Reggie was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (B-ALL). B-ALL is a type of blood and bone marrow cancer that occurs when the bone marrow produces too many abnormal B-lymphocytes, which are a type of white blood cell. This diagnosis has added a whole new layer of complexity to his already difficult journey. Since the diagnosis, Reggie has begun chemotherapy and is undergoing tests and treatments at the hospital, with his parents by his side every step of the way.

Throughout all of this, Reggie’s parents, Chris and Georgie, have had to take significant time off work to care for Reggie and his brother Bertie, and to support each other during this incredibly challenging time. This has placed a considerable emotional and financial strain on the family.

Reggie is slowly making progress with his speech, and with the help of his school, he continues to develop. However, he requires additional support for even the most basic activities, such as riding a bike, and depends on a wheelchair for longer distances due to fatigue. He also needs a special bed for his overnight feeds, which has been delayed due to his treatment for B-ALL.

Reggie’s journey has been long, but his strength and bravery continue to shine. We are asking for your help to support Reggie and his family as they navigate this incredibly difficult chapter. Your generous contributions will help ease the financial burden of medical care, travel to and from hospital, and additional care needs, allowing them to focus on being there for Reggie during this overwhelming time. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference. Thank you for your support.
