Support for Rick and his Family

Hi, my name is Sharon Barnes and I reaching out to help my friend Audrey Cooke, whose Husband Rick requires a lung transplant. No one likes to ask for help, but sometimes we have to swallow our pride.

Rick and Audrey have been married for 42 years and have two Sons, Jason and Darren and a 2 year old Granddaughter Addi. Rick has worked for many years as a Truck driver for Cooke’s Transfer and for various Trucking companies in the area. Audrey is the Face of Shopper’s Drug Mart in North Sydney for the past 43 years. She would be the one that greets everyone with a smile and one would never know what she was dealing with at home the past four years.

Rick and Audrey are leaving for Toronto on May 27 to the Toronto General while he awaits surgery. Rick suffers from Pulmonary Fibrosis which has reached the stage where a transplant is necessary. He will not know until he gets to Toronto whether it will be a single or double transplant. They will be required to be in Toronto for approximately 8 months to a year.

With this, comes the expense of - travel, accommodations and living expenses, along with trying to maintain their home here in town.
