Support for Robert Declue's Funeral Expenses
Donation protected
On November 7th, my uncle, Robert Declue, was taking his friend to the doctor from Dixon, Missouri, going to Springfield, MO, leaving around 5 am to make the long drive.
In this state, bridges are inadequate; many have low water bridges, meaning you drive into the water. Locals have stated that
“there were two days of flooding in this spot but no sign saying road closed. A couple of attempts of yellow caution tape across the road, but people run through it. At night, it is very hard to see the water. Our driveway is the turnaround point that people have to back up to.”
They may have had no warning that the water was too high as it has a tendency to rise very quickly.
Robert often said that he hated having to cross this river , he was afraid of it .
Pulaski County Sheriff's Department received a phone call reporting 2 people missing.
Between 11 pm and midnight, Deputy Jordan located the vehicle in the area of Cave Road. A search was conducted, and Robert Declue was found around 5 am on November 8th, 2024.
Many of Robert’s family and friends are on fixed incomes, including disability, and are unsure of how to provide the financial support they need to pay the funeral home. Robert’s sister, Sue (my mom), and a couple of her kids will be traveling from Wisconsin to handle the arrangements and say their goodbyes.
The expenses for this will add up very quickly on top of the expenses for cremation and a celebration of life. Anything would greatly help our family during this time of tragedy that so simply could have been avoided with a sign or barricade that couldn’t be broken.
Service date is tentative and may change .
