Support for Roberta Marquez

On March 3rd 2021 our mother, Roberta, lost her love and best friend. Joe “Poppy” Ponce, passed away at just 43 years young. Poppy was a part of the ILWU Local 13 for 16 years. In 2020 his health had begun to deteriorate, leaving him no choice but to stop working. In an effort to help Poppy get well, my mom had cut her hours at her job to be by his side and eventually left her job completely. Poppy and Roberta are a Catholic couple who, even if they didn’t have much, gave whatever they could to others. We, as Roberta’s children, could only help so much and we know there will be hard days to come. We’re asking for support in an effort to alleviate their financial burdens, and help our mom until she can get back on her own two feet. We appreciate all of the love, support and prayers during this difficult time.
