Support for Rolando Hernandez's Family

-It’s with heavy hearts to announce the passing of Othello, WA native, Rolando Hernandez on April 16, 2025 due to natural causes. Rolando was an accomplished father, son, brother, friend, soldier, and employee. At the time of his passing, he was blessed to be surrounded by some of his best friends.

-He served the community he grew up in, Othello, WA, for 5 years as a Police Officer for the Othello Police Department. Rolando served with integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to improving his community, that he loved dearly. Rolando’s dream was to become a Police Officer to help other people and he did just that.

-Rolando enlisted in the United States Army in 2006, serving with utmost pride as an Airborne Infantryman in 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, in Ft. Richardson, Alaska. During his time in the active component, Rolando completed two combat tours; once in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and once in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

-Rolando continued his service to his country and community, serving in the Washington Army National Guard. Much of his time being spent with 1st Battalion, 161 Infantry Regiment, to include Bravo Company and his final assignment as First Sergeant for HHC. In 2021, Rolando deployed in support of the Joint Multinational Training Group Ukraine (JMTG-U). Rolando earned numerous awards, badges, and accolades during his time in service including; Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, The Army Parachutist badge, Air Assault Badge, 5x Army Commendation Medals and 6x Army Achievement Awards.

-Rolando had the opportunity to serve with his two brothers in the Washington Army National Guard. Rolando was known as an empathetic leader. A man who could balance the mission and the soldiers. A master at his craft as an infantryman and a mentor to many. He loved the people he served with, and they loved him. His spirit will continue to live through those whom he served with. His family will always consider those he served with as family as well.

-Rolando was a 1st Generation College Graduate from Washington State University (Go Cougs) earning a double bachelors. He also earned a Masters Degree from American Military University.

-Rolando was a family man, through and through. Aside from his personal accomplishments and achievements, his Pride and Joy has always been his now 18 year old Daughter, Chloe M. Hernandez. He was extremely proud of her. Rolando was able to see his daughter be recently accepted into Gonzaga University, her dream college.

-Rolando was well loved by many friends and family, from all over the country. He loved hanging out with his family, having BBQ’s, watching sporting events, enjoying good laughs, providing sound advice, and a every now and then, when the work was done, a well earned vacation. He had an infectious smile and wonderful personality. A true generational working man, whose legacy will forever be carried by those who had the chance to know him.

He is survived by his daughter- Chloe M Hernandez, Parents- Roy & Maria Hernandez, his siblings, Sandra Garza, Jessica Miller, Ivan Hernandez and Isaac Hernandez, friends & family.

Memorial Services as follows (all are welcome to attend):
-April 28th- open casket viewing: 4:00 PM-8:00 PM. Location: Bethel Assembly of God- 915 S 1st Ave, Othello, WA 99344.

-April 29th- memorial service: 10:00 AM-1:00 PM. Location: Bethel Assembly of God- 915 S 1st Ave, Othello, WA 99344.
