Support for Rosie.
It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that our sweet Rose Currie has been diagnosed with Leukemia.
Rosie is just 2.5. She loves singing and dancing, playing dollies and dinos, visiting any beach or park, and playing with her cousins and daycare friends.
At the time of writing this, Rosie has undergone her first week of Chemotherapy, and is receiving the best of care from the wonderful team at BC Children’s Hospital.
Rosie’s parents, Jessica and Reid, are adjusting to the reality that their beloved little girl will need to undergo a long series of aggressive medical interventions including chemotherapy and regular lumbar punctures and other procedures to cure this awful disease. Her care will focus on
supporting her through her treatments and ensuring she does not get any infections a long the way as she will be very immune-suppressed.
Rosie and her parents will need to relocate from the Okanagan to Vancouver in order for Rosie to receive treatment from her Oncology team at BC Children’s.
They have been staying at the hospital for the past week and will be moving to Ronald McDonald house in the next couple of days, where they expect to stay for the first 6 months while they pray for positive results. The treatment will take around 2.5 years to complete. Her diagnosis means life for her and her family is forever changed.
Financial support would help to alleviate some of the stress as they will not be able to work for an extended period of time, while they look after Rosie and move their lives to Vancouver.
Jess is also pregnant and is expecting Rosie’s baby brother in August.
The family is very grateful for all the support they have received thus far, and want to thank all of the healthcare workers that have helped them on their journey from Penticton Regional Hospital to BC Children’s Hospital as well as family and friends for all their messages, support, and prayers.
Rosie is tough and in good spirits and we will get through these trying times.
Thank-you all.
