Support for Ruoho Family in Memory of Ryder
Donation protected
My sweet nephew was born sleeping on 6/18/2024. As you can imagine this has been heartbreaking in so many ways. My brother and sister in law have handled this with so much strength and grace. Between Doctors appointments and funeral arrangements the cost of more than just overwhelming grief has taken its toll. The Ruoho family would like to thank everyone with their support, in words, action and deeds, at this time.
“Ryder Jacob Ruoho was born still at 3:26am this morning. He weighed 1 lb 8.9 oz and measured 11 3/4 inches. Jess was 23 weeks pregnant.
Two weeks ago, at his anatomy ultrasound, it was discovered that Ryder had a rare tumor on his heart called a rhabdomyoma. This soft muscle tumor occupied more space than his actual heart, causing a slow heart rate and obvious defects.
After meeting with fetal cardiologists and maternal-fetal medicine doctors, we were devastated to learn that Ryder would not survive. Given the size of the tumor, it was a miracle that he had made it as far as he did.
This has been, without a doubt, one of the hardest things that I have ever experienced. Though Jess and I have watched helplessly through all of this, I feel that we are closer than ever. If I must walk this dreadful path, I’m glad I walk with Jess by my side.

Rest in peace, Ryder. Mom and Dad love you and wish so badly you were with us.” - Matthew Ruoho
