Support for Brian’s Cancer Battle
Donation protected
At the end of 2023, our Dad was experiencing shortness of breath and fatigue when climbing stairs and doing daily activities. He went to the Dr for some tests and we were all shocked with the news he received! He was diagnosed with myelofibrosis (MF) which is a rare, aggressive blood cancer. This rare type of blood cancer disrupts the way your body produces both red and white blood cells and platelets in your bone marrow.
During the second week of April our Dad was admitted to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. He had a couple rounds of chemotherapy and received radiation. My brother donated stem cells and our Dad had a bone marrow transplant on April 17. The doctors initially thought he would be released from the hospital 3 weeks after the transplant, but his cell counts haven't responded as well as they should have from the transplant. Also he got a blood infection and endured other health challenges. Our Dad ended up needing another bone marrow transplant at the end of May.
Once our Dad is released from the hospital, he will be staying at Kathy's House in Milwaukee for about 2 months while receiving additional medical treatment for his condition. There is a long recovery associated with this type of cancer. Both my brother and I will be his caregivers once he is released from the hospital.
If you are able to donate, please consider helping out our Dad/family. If you are not able to donate, we would appreciate your prayers for a successful transplant and recovery!
Your generous donations will go directly towards:
Covering the costs of chemotherapy, radiation, hospital stay, and other medical treatments
Travel/caregiver expenses to and from the hospital
Other costs: like keeping the lights on at home
Any money not needed for bills will be donated back to Kathy’s house.
Thank you!
