Support for Sadie after Emergency Back Surgery

For those of you who may not be aware, Sadie was rushed to the hospital by ambulance at 1AM Monday morning due to excruciating back pain and paralysis throughout her legs and lower body. Her pain started Sunday morning and became more severe throughout the day as she was on her way back to Phoenix after visiting her hometown in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Sadie was given an MRI, which showed a herniated disc in her back that needed immediate removal. She had to undergo emergency surgery to remove the disc and is now out of surgery and conscious, but dealing with the excruciating pain. On top of everything, Sadie tested positive for COVID during admittance and has needed to isolate in a COVID unit.

As of right now, Sadie has not regained feeling in her legs. The risks of this surgery come with a 20% chance that feeling may not come back, but we are all remaining hopeful that with rest and medical care, she will make a full recovery. As I'm sure anyone can imagine, the anxiety and fear that is associated with this traumatic experience is just as severe as the physical pain she has.

Sadie is still very early in her recovery process, and we do not have very much information on how long or complex the process will be. She will need physical therapy and will likely need to spend time at a rehabilitation center. For now, she is focusing on the initial recovery from surgery and we are waiting for updates.

Sadie moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 2021 after growing up in Appleton, Wisconsin. While she has had an incredible experience living in another state, she is currently very far away from her close friends and family. As a friend of Sadie's for 15+ years, I know firsthand how loved she is by the Fox Valley community and am starting this Go Fund Me as a way to help to alleviate the financial stress that is going to come from this process.

Unfortunately, the hospital that Sadie is currently staying in is not one that is within her insurance's network. Along with the future rehabilitation, physical therapy, time off of work and other general life expenses, I am hoping to raise some funds to take some of the financial stress off of Sadie so that she can focus on healing. Any money donated to this campaign will go directly to Sadie. We would like to help with groceries, medical supplies and anything else she needs to make her comfortable during her recovery. Any amount helps, and I know that Sadie will be incredibly thankful.
