Support for Scherrie’s Family During This Heartbreaking Time

Hi everyone,

My name is Daina, and I’m writing this on behalf of my sister, Scherrie, and her three young children: Pearl (5), Kazul (4), and Basil (2).

Scherrie has always been the light in our family—outgoing, passionate, and deeply caring. As a talented hairstylist, she especially loved working with locs and had a gift for making her clients feel confident and beautiful. As the oldest of three siblings, she has always been our protector. One of my most cherished memories is when she helped me leave a difficult relationship—she didn’t hesitate to step in and make sure I was safe. That’s just who Scherrie was: always ready to stand up for the people she loved.

This past Sunday, Scherrie was attacked and robbed. She was found unconscious and suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Despite the efforts of the doctors, her prognosis is not looking promising. Our family is heartbroken as we face the possibility of losing her.

Scherrie’s three children are now without their mother’s care, and our family is doing everything we can to support them. However, our parents are older and dealing with physical limitations, and their father is not in the picture. My dad, in particular, is shouldering much of the burden, both financially and emotionally. We don’t want him to carry this weight alone, and that’s why we’re reaching out to our community for support.

We’re hoping to raise $9,000 to help cover:

Medical expenses related to Scherrie’s care

Childcare costs for her young children

Moving and storage expenses as we manage Scherrie’s belongings

Ongoing support for the children as they navigate life without their mom
