Support for Scott Vaske & Wife, Lois

Scott was diagnosed with a very rare form of brain cancer called, Glioblastoma (Stage 4), in January of this year. He began showing symptoms in December; it is a very aggressive cancer, known to be in advanced stages by the time it is diagnosed. After many doctor appointments over the last 3 months, Scott & Lois decided that the Mayo Clinic was the best place for him to be with the best specialty physicians! He just started Radiation and Chemo treatment this week (3/13) and is seeming to have a hiccup many of the days as of late. The masses had caused fluid accumulation in his brain so on Friday (3/10) he had two shunts placed to drain this. His mobility & speech are very limited right now, but we are hoping the combination of the shunts & treatment will improve the both of these, along with other things that have come about.

We all know Scott as a VERY active person. He LOVES playing golf, riding bike, walking, swimming, and going to the gym on a daily basis. His limited mobility has been very hard and challenging on him. The same with his speech as he knows what he wants to say but cannot form the words. But because he has stayed so fit, he is in the top 1% of being physically fit going into treatment, which is a blessing. He has a long road ahead of him and we all love him so much!

Lois has taken FMLA for the next 3 weeks to be with Scott in Rochester and will continue to take it intermittently when they are able to get back home.
